Can't connect Google Nest to Google Home

Zubrin

I have a wired Google Nest. I tried to initially set it up with google home but the QR code didn't work. I was able to set up in the Nest app however.

Once I did that, I wanted to add the device to Google home to have one portal for my devices and use the doorbell on my other google devices.

I went to Google Home -> Set up Device -> Works with Google -> Nest

It then wants me to log in with a Nest email and password, however, my nest account is a google account and there is no login option for google accounts on the login page.

How do I work around this?

It seems by "wired Google Nest" you mean the Google Nest Hello Doorbell. The Google Nest Hello Doorbell works fully in the Google Nest app, while other Google Nest devices, including the newer cameras and doorbells, work ONLY in the Google Home app. However, if you are logging onto the Google Nest app and the Google Home app with the same Google (gmail) account, and accessing the same Google Nest "home" on the same Wi-Fi network, then your Google Nest Hello Doorbell will AUTOMATICALLY also appear in the Google Home app, though you can only view the live stream and view past events.  Our new Nest Hello appeared automatically in the Google Home app after I installed it in the Google Nest app.

The "works with Google" option is used for connecting non-Google devices that "work with" Google to your Google Home app, and does not apply to the Nest Hello.

I have the same account and I set them up on the same wifi. I didn't have the option to use the same "home" in the Nest app and had to create a new one despite being on the same account and wifi.

I am not at the home now, but when I go there tomorrow, I will try to set it up again to see if I can make sure it is giving the option to use the home I have set up on google home.
