Can't get doorbell off to recharge battery

I can't get the doorbell off the bracket. I have the tool and it says to insert it into the hole in the top of the doorbell but there is no hole in the top.  There is one in the bottom of the doorbell but it's more like a small slit, not a hole.  I don't understand how this can happen.

In the first video on the page below, starting at about 3:20, you'll find instructions on mounting and dismounting the battery doorbell. It's a small slit, not a round hole. If yours is on the bottom, is it possible your doorbell is mounted upside down?
