I have three Nest outdoor cameras that I purchased before Google bought Nest. The three cameras continue to work flawlessly. Now I have purchased two Google Nest Cam (battery) devices. I cannot get them setup. I’m using the Google Home app but always get “Problem connecting to the cloud.” I have chatted with Google tech support for over three hours but they could not solve the problem.
Given that I am new to the “Google version” of Nest cameras, do I need to purchase a Google Nest Hub to get these new cameras to work?

Per your advice, I searched the forum. Rockymoon posted something very interesting that Nest tech support didn't even ask me about. These two cameras are meant for our school/church so I was using our G Suite e-mail address to set the cameras up. Rockymoon found out that "business" e-mail addresses do not work. So...I tried my personal Gmail address and the cameras work fine! I never would have guessed that! I don't know if that is intentional on Google Nest's part or not...if it is, it's dumb.
Thank you MplsCustomer and thank you Rockymoon!

You do NOT need a Google Nest Hub to get the new Google Nest Cameras (Battery) to work. Note, however, that the new battery cameras work ONLY with the Google Home app and not the Google Nest app or home.nest.com.
There are many postings in this forum with customers having problems setting up their new cameras (problems connecting, cannot connect to assisting device, etc.). Google Nest says they're trying to figure out why. Customers have posted various theories of their own, and various workarounds, which work for some.
I don't have any suggestions, because, luckily, it hasn't happened to us.

Thanks! That was very helpful...unlike Google Nest tech support 😞

I'm just another customer and am sorry I couldn't be of more help. If you search this forum for "problem connecting to iCloud" you'll find several other postings, with no clear resolution, and with Google Nest Community Specialists saying things like: "our engineering team is aware of this" and "we don't have any updates on when this is going to be fixed or an ETA on this. I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread" (Yes, they locked the thread without a resolution.)
