Chime puck dimensions?

TexAg76

I've been researching video doorbells, and have about decided to get a Nest. I've opened the cover of my flush mounted doorbell chime, and there is very little room inside to mount the chime puck. If I can't get the puck to fit inside the chime, there is no other place to put it, as having it outside on the wall is not an option. I have been trying to find out the dimensions of the puck, without success. Does anyone know the diameter and thickness of the puck. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello TexAg76,

Glad to hear you’re interested in using the Nest doorbell. For the chime connector, we don't have its exact dimensions. Usually, what we advise our customers to do if there is not enough room for the chime connector to be installed inside the chime box is to place it outside the chime box. But as you mentioned, placing it outside the chime box is not an option.

I would recommend just going with the Nest Doorbell battery as it doesn't need a chime connector, but make sure you have a Google Nest Speaker or any compatible speaker linked to your Google Nest account to act as its chime box. Here is a link on how to set up your speaker on the Google Home app.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Best,
Edmond

Thanks for the advice and information. I'm still researching video doorbells, but was able to remove the actual doorbell chime (the part that makes the noise) from the box/housing that's recessed in the wall. If I need to install the chime puck in my doorbell chime, I think I can install it on the back of the chime, and run the wires through an opening to where they need to be connected on the front side. So if I decide to purchase the Nest doorbell, I'm pretty sure I've found a way to get the chime puck installed. Thanks again for your time in answering my question.

I did purchase a Nest wired doorbell, and it arrived today. I will be installing it soon, and if I have any questions, I'll be back for help. Thanks again!

I installed the Nest wired doorbell today, and so far, it's working great. I had no issues installing the chime puck in the recessed doorbell chime, as it's small enough to fit inside the compartment. The chime sounds when the doorbell button is pushed, so no issues there. it was an easy installation, and so far, I've had no problems.
