Crappy cameras

Edwardgr

Our cameras constantly are turning their selves off, and we have to turn them back on the one day that they needed to be on. That was very important. We were having a package delivered, and the cameras were turned off so we couldn’t see who stole our package.

@Edwardgr

Do you mean your cameras were offline or literally turned off? I don't think anyone but the customer can turn off the cameras.

I'm just another Google Nest customer, but, while it is possible that all of your cameras are defective, it is probably more likely that they are going offline do to a weak Wi-Fi signal and/or bandwidth. Over the years, we have had occasional issues with a newly added camera going offline, but were able to resolve it by upgrading our ISP router/modem and getting two new routers and configuring them as ethernet-wired access points placed at appropriate locations in our house and, in one case, adding a 3rd-party Wi-Fi antenna to one of our Linksys access points to provide a better Wi-Fi signal to our attached garage. Now all our new and old cameras, doorbells, and Nest Hubs are online and "Live" all the time.

It was turned off my Wi-Fi is good better then good

@Edwardgr

If something is turning your cameras "off", that would seem to be a clear and egregious defect, since Google Nest does not document anything that would turn a camera off except manually by the customer, via a customer schedule, or automatically due to home/away presence sensing enabled by the customer:

Hello folks,

@Edwardgr thanks for reaching out. That certainly hasn’t been easy for you. I have a quick question before diving in deeper. Do you have the battery or wired type of Nest cameras? How far are they from your router? Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the camera?

Keep us posted.

I appreciate the help, .

Regards,
Emerson

Hey Edwardgr,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.

Best,
Emerson
