Disable notifications for familiar faces

Waterbucket
Community Member

I see a bunch of requests to be able to turn off these notifications, but they're all locked.  Please implement this feature.  Notifications for people in my yard/house are useless if I'm spammed with family members.

PS, if you lock this thread without implementing this, I'll just create another.

Yep they're good at locking threads. Not real good at fixing the plethora of ongoing faults and issues with Google's inferior products but pretty good at locking threads hey.

Hi folks,

I’m sorry for the delay —  let's get this sorted out. What type of Nest cameras do you have? Are you using the Google Home or Nest app?

You can turn off notifications for familiar face detection for each Nest camera. Also, you can turn off this feature completely. Have a look at this guide to troubleshoot (see "Change settings" section): Familiar face detection.

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Lance

Thanks for responding Lance.

The problem is that familiar face notifications are grouped with all "People" in the Home app.  There does not appear to be a way to get a notification if an unknown face is detected, without continual hits for known faces.

Hi Waterbucket,

I totally understand that this is a good feature to use with your Nest cameras, but it isn’t available. I'd suggest you submit feedback about it.

Let us know if you have other questions or concerns; otherwise, we will be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Regards,

Lance

How can I submit this feedback?  Isn't that what this forum is for?

Hello Waterbucket,

Thanks for getting back to me.

As this is a community forum supported by other users and community specialists, the best way of getting your thoughts, feedback, or feature requests to the people that can make changes is by submitting feedback as detailed within the link below:

Share feedback about Google Nest.

Sincerely,

Lance
