Doorbell Microphone broken, can't hear visitors.

Hi all,

The microphone on my nest doorbell has given up the ghost and I cannot hear what the postman or visitors are saying.

I've read through a few other posts on here and tried all the suggestions of resetting and checking the microphone is turned on in settings; all to no avail, it's simply broken.

Is there a way to repair or is a it a straight up replacement?

Hi @Phil1987,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest doorbell microphone is not working and that is preventing you can hear the visitors. I appreciate all the efforts you've made to resolve this inconvenience. Help's here!

To better better assist you, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Which model of Nest doorbell do you have?
  • When did the issue start?
  • Has the doorbell suffered any drops or impacts?
  • Has the camera been exposed to outdoor weather?
  • Is the camera exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods?

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Melany

Hi gmelanymelissa!

  • It's a battery doorbell.
  • The issue started about a month ago(ish)
  • No drops or impacts
  • It is exposed to weather, rain and sunshine.
  • Yes it faces west so is exposed to direct sunlight for half the day.
