Doorbell Notifications in Nest App but not in Google Home on iPhone

First off, before someone replies with that level 1 help desk generic response, YES, every single, possible conceivable notification is turned on in all the apps... 🙂

I have the Nest app and Google Home app installed on my iPhone.  Everything works fine in the Nest app.  Everything works fine the Google Home app EXCEPT when someone rings the doorbell.  In other words, I can open the Google Home app and see live activity through the  doorbell camera, etc, so that is all working.  BUT when someone rings the doorbell, the notification of that event is sent to my Nest App, NOT the Google Home app.  This is an issue, because we have more than one person in the home (and all are added in the Google Home app), but I'm the only one getting the doorbell notification, because they only have the Google Home app and NOT the Nest App installed on their phones.  (If they DID install the Nest App, they would have to all use my log in, etc, which is not acceptable).

RECAP:  Why are doorbell notifications ONLY being sent to the Nest app and NOT Google Home app?  (Everything works fine in the Google Home app... users can see the doorbell camera live, etc).  But I'm stuck being the only person that can respond to doorbell rings because I'm the only person with the Nest App installed.

Unfortunately, the new Google Nest cameras and doorbells introduced starting in the fall of 2021 work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app OR on the home.nest.com website.

Conversely, our OLDER Google Nest cameras and doorbells (like our Google Nest Hello Doorbells) work FULLY ONLY in the Google Nest app; notifications continue to be sent in the Google Nest app for older cameras and doorbells like the Google Nest Hello Doorbell.

I'm just another customer.  Google Nest's VP and GM posted this rationale for this 2-app approach back in Sept. 2022; there has been no updates since then on his promises to address this situation:

Hi folks,

I appreciate the help @MplsCustomer. You can have your family members install the Nest app and use the same Google Account credentials they have in the Google Home app.

Once you added a family member in the Google Home app, they will have the same privilege on the Nest app. You can check this article to Learn about Family Accounts and how to share access to your Nest home for more info.

Regards,

Steve
