Hello,

i have a google nest doorbell (battery)

i am trying to set it up through the home app however i keep getting a error message and its not able to connect.

i have turned my internet modem off and on, turned my phone off for 60sec, turned bluetooth off and on, put my phone on aeroplane mode and off again. Attempted through another phone to set up.
Ive tried deleting the home app and re installing moving closer to the internet modem and it doesnt seem to help.

is this doorbell faulty? Will i need to go through google to get a replacement?

please let me know thank you

Hi there!

It's definitely frustrating that your Google Nest Doorbell (battery) isn't connecting during installation. There are a few more troubleshooting steps you can try before reaching out to Google for a replacement:

Check Wi-Fi:

  • Network Strength: Make sure your Wi-Fi signal is strong near the doorbell. You can try moving the doorbell closer to your router temporarily to see if that helps.
    • You'll need also make sure your device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as you want to connect your device.
  • Wi-Fi Network: Verify you're connecting to the correct 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (Nest Doorbell doesn't support 5 GHz). Ensure your network name (SSID) isn't hidden.
  • Router Settings: Some router settings like high firewall security or parental controls might block new devices. Check your router's manual to see if these features are enabled and how to temporarily disable them for setup.
  • Bluetooth connection: Make sure your Bluetooth is enabled but not connected to another device like: Headphone, Smartwatch, Speaker.
  •

Doorbell and App:

  • Factory Reset: Try resetting your doorbell to factory settings.
  • App Restart: Close all background apps and relaunch the Google Home app.
  • Different Device: If possible, try setting up the doorbell using a different smartphone or tablet.
  • Test with a mobile hotspot: This is to make sure the issue isn't with your doorbell or with your Internet connectivity.

Additional I would like to know what’s the color of the LED status light?

Best Regards,

Brandon.

Hi Brandon,

thank you for your message, the doorbell does light up a blue colour and will pulsate.

Also sometimes the doorbell will make a noise when attempting to set up but this is not always.

If it doesn’t connect after troubleshooting do you know how I can best contact google for a replacement?
