Dropcam HD replacement

I replaced my Dropcam HD with a Nest Cam Wired unit.  I was able to add it to Google Home but cannot add it to Nest.  I have a number of cameras and would prefer to continue using Nest rather than switching over to Google Home.  Is there a trick to adding the Nest Cam Wired?  When I try to do that it does not come up in the list of cameras to add, just the older (soon to be obsolete) ones.

Thanks, Bob

@Rtharter

Google Nest's 2nd gen cameras and doorbells released starting in Sept. 2021 only get installed in and work in the Google Home app.

We discovered this to our surprise when we bought a Google Nest Battery Camera in Sept. 2021 and could not install it in the Nest app, and have been using 2 apps ever since.

And unfortunately, there are numerous Nest app features that are not available in the Google Home app:

Thanks for the info and I was afraid of that!  Is the Nest app going away as well?

I see from the list of features that downloading clips and volume adjust level are NOT transferable.  These are two key features for us.  Can you recommend a camera that would work as a replacement for the Drop Cam BUT retains all the features?  I've noticed when using Google Home to use the cameras there is a Nest icon to take you to the Nest features for all but the new Nest Cam Wired units.  If the Nest app goes away will we loose these features on all cameras?

Thanks for your help!

I suppose the Google Nest app will be phased out eventually. My hope is that they'll transfer its capabilities to the Google Home app before they do so, but I don't know if they will.

On the iPhone, the Nest icon that appears in the Google Home app for the older 1st gen cameras does nothing more than link to the Google Nest app, but that will probably go away if and when they finally phase out the Google Nest app.

I don't have any recommendations for other cameras.
