Dropcam and Dropcam Pro

Dropcam and Dropcam Pro support servers are getting dropped from Google. How can we revive these cameras and have respective users still continue to use these working cams. Any other streaming service product ready to accept this cam. Does Google provide a substitute nest cam for existing users?

For your last question, see the blog post below. Judging from other posts in this forum, your Dropcam needs to have been in use and online 28 days before the announcement in order to qualify for the replacement camera.

I'm a dropcam customer for ~10 yrs now, I have 2 indoor cameras. I'm qualified for 1 replacement camera. when calling support to ask why do I need to buy a new camera at full price, when I have 2 cameras that work well and were bought at full price as well, they representative said she "need to drop the call now" and hanged up. ?!!

why would I buy another camera for full price? I just bought a new camera 2 yrs ago (they didn't last 10 yrs.....)

Hello everyone,

@sbesis, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. These Nest Cameras have been on the market for over 10 years. We take your home security needs seriously and it's been increasingly challenging to continue to update these products given the early hardware. Were you able to read the information from the link above?

@Dropcam_user, this is not the experience we want you to have. If you want to speak with our support team, hit this link. Looking forward to your response.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Regards,

Emerson

Hi Emerson, thanks for the reply. I did teach the support team. I explained to the representative that I bought 2 dropcam cameras 2.5 yrs ago (needed to replace the ones I had), and it doesn’t make sense to expect me to buy new ones this year (they offer 1 replacement). She said she has to end the call. Anyone specific that can take care of it? I don’t think I’ll continue to use nest once the equipment is no longer supported and pay the subscription.

Hi Dropcam_user

All features will remain available until April 8, 2024. Dropcam will no longer work after that date, and you will no longer be able to use your Nest app to check status. If you wish to keep your video history, please download and save before this date.

If you are a current Nest Aware subscriber, we will be offering you a Nest Cam (indoor, wired) on us to help you keep your home secure. If you are not a Nest Aware subscriber, we're offering a 50% discount toward a new Nest Cam (indoor, wired).

Check out this link to get more information about your Dropcam.

Thanks,

Juni

Hi Juni,

Thanks for your reply, I just don’t understand why is it relevant for my question/ claim. I’d like to know why Google expects me to buy new equipment when my dropcam is 3 yrs old, and feels comfortable profiting twice instead of replacing my cameras. Appreciate your response .
