Edit Zone Shape

Another irritation with the Google Home app, it really is a very poor piece of software.

Go to edit the zone shape for my floodlight cam. Change the shape, click on the tick icon and it takes me back to a camera view of the old zone shape. So left wondering if it has done it or not.

To check the changes have taken you either have to back out of the settings and go back in and it will show the new zone shape. Or select edit zone shape again and it will show you that changes are actually there.

Google really ought to be ashamed of this piece of software, it is remarkably immature. And it has just lost them a sale of two Nest Thermostats and two smoke/CO detectors for my house. If they go through the piece of rubbish that is the Home app I will look elsewhere for equivalent solutions with better app support.

thanks for this. I am using activity zones, and have been for quite some time. My issue is quite specific around the editing if the zone shape, and the fact that after you click the tick icon to say yiu have finished editing the app shows you the old shape. Not the new one.

I see what you are saying! That sounds like a bug to me with the app. But have you tried to force-close the app, reopen it and see if it will allow you to save the new zone?

Best regards,

the edited zine shape is actually saved. If you go to edit it again it shows you the new shape. Or if you back right out of settings and go back it it shows you the new shape. It is just the display immediately after clicking on the tick icon to save the edited shape. That shows yiu the old shape so you are left thinking has it? Hasn’t it?

Just checking in to see how the conversation is going as there's been a lapse in activity on this thread.

Brad, issue still exists. No one replied to my last post. So guess it is yet another “feature” of the Google Home app we have to learn to live with. At least it is only an issue very occasionally.
