Extreme temperature

I've started running into problems with my Google Nest Doorbell (Battery), it's telling me that my device is offline due to extreme temperature, its not hot or even cold here so what's the problem ? I took it down to charge it up and while charging, I checked it and saying the same, offline due to extreme temperature.

Hello weealan,

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with the Nest doorbell. Don’t worry, help’s here.

A few questions: what is the temperature where the doorbell is located? Have you installed any after-market skins on the doorbell? Is the device exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods of time?

To determine if it’s a battery issue, let’s reset the device to factory settings. Follow the steps below:

  1. Save any video history on the device, if any.
  2. Unmount the device, connect the doorbell to the USB cable and charger, then locate the reset pinhole.
  3. Insert and hold the pin (you can use an unfolded paper clip or a thumbtack).
    1. At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
    2. At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the doorbell starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.
  4. Release the button. Your device will restore to its factory settings.
  5. After the factory reset, your device will appear as "offline" in the app until you remove it. Also, the status should be pulsing blue. If not, start over from step 3.
  6. To remove it from the app, open the app, then tap Settings > Remove Device >  Confirm. (Skip this if it's already done.)
  7. Make sure the phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the selected network for the Nest device.
  8. Bluetooth should be enabled, but it should not be connected to any Bluetooth devices. Disconnect any Bluetooth devices paired to your phone, such as earbuds, smartwatches, etc.
  9. Cellular data should be turned off.
  10. If you have an iOS device, tap Settings > Privacy > Local Network and turn on Local Network Access for the Google Home app.
  11. Start adding the device back to the Google Home app.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Best,

Lance

Hi, thanks for reply... Temperature here just now is 12°C so not hot or cold and no extended periods of direct sunlight, been mostly cloudy. No skins. I took it down and charged it to see if that would fix the problem but didn't and the next day it was dead, despite not working. I've done factory reset and set it up again, its coming on but not staying on and getting no notifications from it.

Not recording events and giving no notifications since doing the factory reset.
