I recently purchased 2 Nest Cams (Indoor, wired). One of these, I intend to use to use as an indoor security camera, the other, I will be using as a baby monitor.
While the video and audio quality is excellent, there is one basic feature that I feel is missing from these cameras. There currently is no way to set alerts for basic sounds. I can set sounds for animals, faces, fire alarms, and even vehicles (which doesn't make too much sense for an indoor camera) but I cannot set an alert for general sound.
For example, an alert for when sound reaches X decibels would be very useful. Not only would this be useful for general use aside from the specific sound triggers, but this feature alone would make the Nest Cam suitable for a baby monitor in my opinion.
Readers, please let me know your thoughts and if this would be useful to you in your properties as well.

The previous Google Nest cameras (indoor and outdoor) (before the fall of 2021) can send notifications for Persons Talking, Dog Barking, and All Other Sounds, and the doorbells can send notifications for a Loud Noise.
The new Google Nest Battery cameras can send sound notifications only for a Carbon Monoxide Alarm or a Smoke Alarm (recommended for indoor use only). I don't know what the new Google Nest Battery doorbell or the new Nest Camera Indoor (wired) can do, but it seems we've lost functionality with these new cameras released in the fall of 2021.

That's unfortunate.
Smart features are great, but sometimes the simple features work just fine. Hopefully they will re-introduce "All Other Sounds" with this latest generation.

A comment from a developer would be really nice, if that's possible. I'd like to know if this is a potential feature for the future. It's an important function for my use case and it appears I am not alone in this.

I agree. Why isn't there an alert for "baby crying"? The Amazon Cloud Cam has been doing this for years. Please add this feature for those of us using the Nest Cam as a baby monitor.

100% agree. Debating on switching around my nest cams to use an old one in a room for the sound notifications, but if this update is coming I will just wait it out.

It doesn’t seem like the OP question was addressed. “A comment from a developer would be really nice, if that's possible. I'd like to know if this is a potential feature for the future. It's an important function for my use case and it appears I am not alone in this.”

Hey there, folks!
I am afraid that you will not get an alert sound, but it should at least send a notification to your phone. I am afraid these cameras are not built for child monitoring, so the function you are looking for is not an option. Thank you so much for bringing this up to my attention! I like that idea, and I could see how it could be helpful. I will go ahead and submit this feedback forward for you. Thank you for all of your patience.
Please let me know if you need further assistance on this issue.
