[Feature Request] Disable notification for when the doorbell sees 'you'

ChrisPP

I'm really enjoying the getting notifications when people are seen at my door, including the familiar faces function.

However whenever I'm coming home, I get a notification of "Chris is at the door", which is self evident as I'm Chris.  So whenever I'm trying to unlock my front door, carrying shopping bags, my phone and watch spring to life - making me think that something which needs my attention (like a phone call) is happening.  So I end up wrestling up my sleeve to see my watch of try to get my phone out of my pocket whilst encumbered by all my groceries.

It's totally a first world problem, but It'd be nice if you could disable notifications your own familiar face to prevent this confusion.

Hi there,

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I can definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be. I would love to help you find a solution to this issue.

  • You can turn off Familiar Face in general, but not the option to manually add them in the app.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi Brad - thanks for the reply!

My specific example would be to disable face detection notifications for MY FACE.   So, the app should still recognise me, and show me in the history, but my phone/watch should not light up with a notification when my doorbell sees me.

I'd imagine this would be a feature you can turn on/off for specific faces in the app - e.g. don't show notifications for me, or my wife.

In addition - your point of manually adding faces would be super useful too.

Hi again, ChrisPP.

I see what you mean, I am terribly sorry that I misunderstood what you meant! My Nest Cam also does the same thing with me, but what I found is that I had to essentially factory reset it and start from scratch. At the time, I didn't have as many Familiar Faces stored, but it stopped alerting me about my own face after it learned to recognize me more. Obviously, this is not particularly helpful if you have a lot of them saved up and do not want to lose them. I will definitely send this information forward, and I hope that something can be done about it in the future.

Please let me know if you need anything else!

Best Regards,

Brad.
