At what distance are objects/subjects in focus?

The nest cam battery has a 130° diagonal wide-angle view with auto focus, from my experience everything seems to be in view and focus quite well, nothing seems out of focus.

All camera lenses have limitations on what they can simultaneously focus. Typically, it is a range like x feet to y feet. Objects within that space will have more detail and sharpness. Objects before and beyond that distance will be less legible. A car’s license tag, for example, might be ambiguous (Is that the number 8 or the letter B?).
While wide angle lenses have a larger focal distance, ultra-wide angle lenses like this camera has, introduce distortion that destroys focus on the peripheral.

I would like to know the focal length of the camera so I can determine how far away to install one so that faces or license plates are legible. I am not installing a camera in the typical locations.
