Google Home App add Device

Schouten142

Dear,

I installed the Nest Doorbell Wired 2nd Gen a month a go via the Nest app, using my Google account. Today I received the Google Nest speakers which I want to connect with the Doorbell using the Google Home app. For some reason I can not add the Nest Doorbell to my Google Home App. This is my procedure: Set up a device > Works with Google > Nest > Forget Password > Sign in with Google > log in with my account > verify and then it just stops... I don't have a Nest account so I can not use that. I have used multiple browers on my iPhone and iPad but nothing works. Please provide a solution to my problem because I want it working.

Kind regards,

Mark

The Google Nest Hello Doorbell is supposed to automatically appear in the Google Home app if you log onto both the Google Nest app and the Google Home app with the same Google Account.

I'm not sure what you mean by "voice notifications in the Google Home app and the Nest app".

If you have the Google Nest Hello Doorbell, then you enable "Visitor announcements" by going to the doorbell in the Google Nest app (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451).  If it's still not working, you could try unplugging your Nest Mini for a minute to reboot it.

The 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell CANNOT be installed in the Google Nest app, so if you do have a 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell, you definitely did NOT install it using the Google Nest app. It can ONLY be installed in the Google Home app. You do NOT use the "Works with Google" option; that option is for non-Google devices that WORK with Google Nest.

If by chance you actually have the older (1st gen) Google Nest Hello Doorbell and you installed it in the Google Nest app using your Google Account, then if you log into the Google Home app with the same Google Account and go to the same Google Nest "home/structure" where you installed your Google Nest Hello Doorbell, then you should see your Google Nest Hello Doorbell automatically. Then you simply install your Google Nest speakers in the same Google Nest "home/structure" and the same Google Account in the Google Home app. If you wish, you can then turn on "Visitor announcements" on your doorbell (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451) to get visitor announcements.

Thank you for the quick reply. Before I had the Google Home app I was using the Nest app only for the doorbell. For some reason the doorbell has been added to my Google Home app and I’ve installed the Nest Mini Speaker in the same home/same account. I’ve turned on voice notifications in the Google Home app and the Nest app. Do not disturb is off on the Mini but I’m still not getting the chime over the speakers. Any idea what it could be?
