Google Home Battery Camera video always "unavailable"

I  recently bought the new Google Nest Battery Camera.  I know it is not Nest App compatible.  I get a notification that the camera sees someone, but when I click on the notification on my phone, I invariably get  "This video isn't available yet. Check back later."  What kind of security is this if I can't see what I'm being notified about?!!!

Hi there, kbboykin.

Sorry for my late response. Thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I just wanted to make sure that your issue is addressed. I would love to look into this further for you. The notifications that you are getting, is it for video of someone? Or is this just an alert for Familiar Faces? I would definitely restart your camera, restart your wifi for good measure, connect camera again and then see if you run into that issue again. Sounds like it could be connected to the wifi connection though. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi Kbboykin,  I have seen this happen with my new Doorbell (battery) as well.  Here is my take on what is going on.   To their credit the new nest cams have a specialized chip in them to detect and identify motion as person, vehicle, animal or package.  This chip works very well,,, but it actually works to well because here is what I think happens.  The camera notifies you of the event but it has not yet had time to send it to the cloud.  We get to view the clip as it streams down from the cloud. It does not come off the camera.  So if  you just wait about 5-10 seconds the clip usually appears on it's own.   The faster the internet connection you have, the faster it gets there.

This is just my theory but I think it adds up.

It is with any notification.  I will get a notification on my phone and click on it. Then it says "This video is not available please check back later". I only have it set for persons. By the time the camera/video is available, the person is long gone!

Yes, all devices you are trying to watch the clip on stream the recorded clip from the google cloud.  But what I'm saying is the camera needs some time to send the video clip up to the cloud before you can view it.   Just wait about 10 seconds and it almost always will appears.   ... which is not to say that I am happy about this.  Another weak design decision in my opinion.

Unfortunately, this IS NOT the case here.  My camera sent a notification for a person at 6:19 pm today and now at 6:2 pm, I still get this "This video isn't available yet. Check back later"  far longer than the 10 seconds you allude to.  I must have a defective camera.  I have even set up it up now to use power instead of the battery, so that's not a factor either.

I have exactly the same issue. I can go to live view just fine so wifi etc. cannot be the issue. I get the notifications and I have yet to see one single recorded video. They are not viewable, not after 10 seconds, 1 hour or one day.

I only bought this camera to stay in the Google ecosystem. My older outdoor camera is better at looking at notifications.  I had a RIng Camera that I was going to use, but saw the new battery operated one and knew that would save me some installation site choices headaches, but since it is over the garage keeping an eye on my cars, I wanted a quick "who's there" effect.  Especially since we are having a rash of kids ransacking cars in the wee hours of the am if they are unlocked.  And I don't live in a bad neighborhood, supposed to be quiet and somewhat secure.  This is why I'm disappointed.
