Now that I am forced to use Google Home instead of the Nest App, I have two questions:
1) Can a version run from Google Chrome on my Windows 11 Desktop computer?
2) Several times over the years there have been instances where I needed to export video from Nest cameras to a file (Clips). Is anything like this possible with Google Home?

Hi RGrenader. Help's here. About your first question, you need to use the Google home on your computer; if I am right you can use this link to see your cameras on the computer and about your second question you can use this link to create, save and download video clips on the Google home app.
Hope this helps.

Manuel

Hello, Yes, as of about a week ago (today is 3/28/24) you can export clips from home.google.com from just about every browser. And if you have the Nest Aware PLUS subscription that records footage 24/7 you can export any period of the recording you want even though the camera may not have flagged it as a person or animal 'event'. Let me know if you need more details. I'm using on a Mac in a Safari browser and it works great.
One more thing: Unlike the older version using home.nest.com for the older Gen 1 cameras it does not save the clip to the Google cloud instead it saves it to your computer and from there you can send it on to who ever.
Okay, two more things,,,, unlike the old version you can not save a version of the clip that has the in-picture date and time stamp.

I can now see all my Nest cameras using the link you provided. However, I can only see the activity history on the new camera I installed. Why?

So here is what is going on:
Google is only supporting certain models of the Gen 1 cameras on home.google.com. The ones that are NOT yet supported are the original Nest HELLO doorbell and the IQ cameras (and maybe a few others).
I have one of the original Gen 1 cameras and it works fine on home.google.com BUT here is what you have to do...
When you launch the Google home app it should ask you if you want to move any of your Gen 1 cameras over to the Google Home app. If you answer YES to this then those cameras will now work in the Google Home app and also home.google.com. But the bad news is those cameras will no longer appear in the Nest App or on the older home.nest.com.
One piece of good news is if you move a camera over and don't like it you can switch it back fairly easily.
