Google Nest 2nd gen (battery) outdoor camera - wired options

I have two Google Nest 2nd gen (battery) outdoor cameras. 

I'm looking for wired options for these and only see a 1m cable that adapts from the camera to a standard USB outlet. There are also 5 m and 10 m options that terminate to a standard 120V plug.

Are there other lengths available? I have an outlet outside that is in a weather proof cover. I don't need 5 m of cable (16.4 feet!).

We've had the battery camera for almost 2 years, plugged in with the optional 10-meter power cable. I've only seen the 5-meter and 10-meter options.  Some customers have reported problems trying to power their cameras with the enclosed 1-meter charging cord.

If you installed your camera as battery-powered and later decide to plug it in, you'll have to do a factory reset and plug it in before you start the re-install; otherwise the camera will not power itself correctly from your household current.  There have been several posts about this in this forum. Some customers report they had to specify the camera was plugged in during the install process; I can't recall if we had to do this when we originally installed ours 2 years ago.

Most of your reply has nothing to do with the original question. 

Maybe to put it pointedly: anyone have a good recommendation on aftermarket power cables that have intermediate length options? 4ft? 6ft?

I haven't seen any, and given issues other customers have reported with third-party adapters I'd be hesitant about using one. It's a nuisance that Google Nest doesn't have shorter options.

But even if you find an after-market cable, you'll still need to do a factory reset, based on other customers' experience when switching from battery-powered to plugged in.

That doesn't seem to be the case, i bought a cheapo aftermarket 6 ft cable. Plugged it in and it detected it was a wired connection. Same is true when disconnected the power cable.

For now, the only available weatherproof cables for Nest Camera Batteries are 5 and 10 M. We appreciate your thoughts about making our products better and more user-friendly.
