Hello - I am looking to replace my outdoor IQ camera which unfortunately died. The IQ was professionally installed, which involved drilling a whole through the side of my house and wiring/connecting to an indoor power outlet.
Now I am looking at purchasing the current outdoor cam as its replacement (IQs are no longer sold). The weatherproof cable for this camera....is it safe for me to re-purpose the existing hold in my house from the IQ install, and plug it into an indoor outlet? Or is this weatherproof cable intended for an outdoor plug only?

I guess running the cable through the exterior wall might well be a code violation; using a rubber grommet might make it safer but I don't know whether that would be up to code (depending on your location). The power cable on our new Google Nest Camera (Battery) is noticeably thinner than on our older Google Nest Outdoor Cameras (not the IQ cameras), which we have wired through the walls of our detached garage and plugged in inside the garage. I guess we're probably in techncial violation of code, though lots of Google Nest customers seem to do this, and Nest's own Nest Cam Outdoor Installation Guide discusses wiring the camera through a home's exterior wall (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwj-uoa5g8f6AhUFjIkEHTX1AVMQ...).

I'm just another Google Nest customer, but I would be surprised if the weatherproof cable for the Google Nest Camera (Battery) could NOT be plugged into an indoor outlet. After all, you have the cable for the Google Nest Outdoor IQ Camera plugged into an indoor outlet. (We have had the Google Nest Camera (Battery) plugged into a covered outdoor outlet with the optional power cable for a year.)

ty for the reply! I guess the real basis of my question is wether or not feeding this power cable through the side of the house would be considered "code compliant". i.e. not in violation of any standard building codes??
Going a bit back...I had originally purchased the original Nest outdoor camera, but OnTech (3rd party installer via Google) explained that its power cable was only intended to plug in outdoors and not "safe" to thread through the side of the house. Which forced us to upgrade to the IQ....the power cable of which is intended to thread through house/wall and plug indoors.
Not sure if I'm explaining this well enough but that's really what I'm trying to figure out. Routing this new weatherproof cable through house/wall....will it be considered safe from a building code perspective???

"No outdoor outlet? You can plug Nest Cam Outdoor into an indoor outlet. This requires some extra steps, which may include drilling through your home’s exterior wall. Keep in mind that you’ll need to know where any in-wall pipes and wiring are."
