Google Nest Cam with Floodlights charger

I purchased a Google Nest Cam with Floodlights charger and it didn’t come with a cable to charge the camera. I assumed it would be automatically charged since the floodlights are connected to electricity, but just found it doesn’t when the camera battery died and noticed there was no cable included on the packaging (not even an indoor cable). Is this normal? Should the cable be included? What kind of cable can I use?

We don't have one of the new Google Nest Floodlight Cameras. However, since the camera should be hard-wired with the power turned on at all times, it would seem that its battery should always remain charged.  (We have a Google Nest Camera [Battery]; it's plugged in all the time and its battery is always at 100% even in temperatures as low as -15 degrees Fahrenheit.)

There are numerous postings in this forum with customers having issues with the floodlight camera, including odd issues with its battery. In some postings, it turns out the camera was faulty and they were able to get the camera replaced.

There is nothing in these postings or in the Google Store or on the Google Nest Help website that explain the purpose of the floodlight camera's battery. I found one review that says the battery's purpose is to enable recording even when there's a power outage.

This is one of the longer threads in this forum on battery issues with the floodlight camera:

@Laurex

The Floodlight would need to be installed correctly, so no you would need to get it wired in as you would another Floodlight.

Best regards,

Brad.
