I lost the magnetic base when i moved and like many people am very frustrated that Google doesn't sell replacement parts. Question is whether i can just buy a rare earth magnet and stick it on the back, and just use a third party threaded base? Anyone have any idea? Also if anyone knows of a third party that sells a replacement magnetic base that would be great
thanks

On this thread, another customer posted a link to a company that sells magnets that may work:

Thanks. Hard to tell but seems like this magnet is on a metal fence/siding. May be able to secure to wood with bolt but seems like pulling off and on for charging may cause wear and tear. I am thinking of just putting magnet on back (just to keep it on) and then using the threads and wasserstein mount. any clue on whether that would work?

Pretty pathetic when replacement parts aren't available with such faulty products.

Camera works ok, not as great as Ring though, but agree on the parts. Would be easy for Google to have some extra parts available

Hi question…..if I stick a battery on back of camera and just use third party threaded mount, will that work?

Hey zonkey,
Thanks for getting back to us.
While we don’t have information on whether sticking a battery on the back of the camera will work, you can use any third-party mount with a 1/4"-20 thread, but it may affect the performance of your camera. More information here.
I hope that helps.

Lance
