Google Nest Camera gives person notifications despite being configured to be off when we are at home

I have multiple google nest cameras (outdoor battery) which are wired for 24/7 power and I also have Nest Max hub and Nest doorbell (wired). Until this morning everything was working fine. But starting this morning I keep getting notification on my phone when the camera senses car, person, motion, etc.... I have the notification setting to only send alert/notification when no one is at home. But since this morning or perhaps last night it keeps sending notification even though the app shows that I am at home. I have manually tried to set the my presence to home and also toggled between Home and Away and I keep getting notification regardless if the Google home app or Nest App shows I am at home or away. So not sure if there was a software update that broke the notification to only be sent out when I am not home.  I have even tried to removing notification from one of the cameras and rebooted it and have added the notification setting back and still the issue persists.  Looking to see if anyone else is having this issue and if there is a solution.

Thanks,

Hi NestUser4,

Thanks for reaching out — let’s see what’s going on with your notifications.

To confirm, has the camera been moved recently? Are there any Activity Zones set up for the camera? Are there other family members who can access the camera? Do they receive any notifications?

There are a few things that can trigger unwanted alerts or false positives, here are common triggers to name a few:

  • Changes in the light level
  • Shadow moving across the frame. For example, if a cloud moves in front of the sun.
  • Trees or bushes swaying near the customer’s important areas.
  • Headlights or flashing entering the field of view.

Give these steps a try:

  • Try turning off and on the push and email notifications from the Nest App.
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Nest App.

Keep me posted.

Emerson
