Google Nest Doorbell 2ndGen doesn't have doorbell ring on phone like 1stGen?

Hi there,

I used to own the Nest Hello Doorbell 1st Gen.  Anytime I had the doorbell ring, my iPhone would also play the doorbell ring sound *DingDong*.

I recently had to replace the Doorbell because the internal battery died (Thanks Google).  Upon replacing it with the 2ndGen Nest Doorbell, I have noticed that anytime someone now rings my doorbell it no longer plays the *DingDong* sound on my iPhone and instead just uses the standard "Default Alert" sound that is listed for Sounds & Haptics on the iPhone.

What was this changed?  And why is there no way to indicate a specific sound to be played for the doorbell on the iPhone?  This seems like a big issue on the 2ndGen, as all notifications on an iPhone play the "Default Alert" and there is no easy way to know when someone has actually rang the doorbell when you are away.

An indoor doorbell chime is a physical device, connected to your doorbell transformer and to your doorbell, that produces a doorbell chime sound.

The "Indoor chime" option lets you turn that indoor doorbell chime on or off.

The "Visitor announcements" option controls whether visitor announcements are set to your Nest Hubs and Nest Minis and Nest speakers when the doorbell button is pressed.

I don't know why Google Nest discontinued the doorbell chime option on customers' phones with the 2nd gen doorbells.  We still have 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbells, and still get a doorbell chime sound (ding-dong) on our cell phones (unless I'm wearing my Apple Watch, in which case I just get a notification sound on my watch).

Ok then, there really is no recommended answer for this post other than "HEY GOOGLE.. please add back in the doorbell ring on our phones as it makes no sense to not be able to differentiate from a normal phone alert and a doorbell".  I almost want to say this is a bug, as it is KEY FUNCTIONALITY removed from the Google Nest Doorbell without folks even knowing.  I wouldn't have bought this 2nd Gen doorbell and gotten a Ring instead, had I known I now can't tell when the doorbell rings on my phone easily.

That's one of numerous Nest app features that is missing in the 2nd gen version.

The internal battery has failed in all 3 of our Nest Hellos, so we long ago turned off the "Indoor chime" option to prevent our doorbells from going offline when the doorbell button is pressed, and we rely instead on "Visitor announcements" sent to our Nest Hubs and Nest Mini.

What exactly does indoor chime mean?  Right now, I have no doorbell in the house other than the doorbell sound that comes out of my Nest Hubs and Mini's.  I have Indoor chime turned on as in reference to it meaning, announce the chime on my Nest Hubs/Mini's.  Is it not for that?

Back to the original topic.  It makes no sense that this was a feature in the original Nest App and Nest Hello, and is now removed in the Google Home App and 2nd gen doorbell.  People get tons of notifications on their phone.  There is no easy way to discern the difference from a default notification now and someone ringing your doorbell.  This really isn't just a 'feature', this is a broken aspect of an actual DOORBELL sounding like a DOORBELL on the phone.
