Google Nest Doorbell - Peeling issue

Ajkeysor
Community Member

My doorbell has been peeling slowly since I got it. I thought it wouldn't bother me since it wasn't severe at first, but it's gotten bad enough that it really does bother me. Is there any way to fix this issue? I've seen some posts show individuals who received replacements out of warranty, and some people who are frustrated with Google support and are refused replacement units. I didn't know this was such a widespread issue until looking into these community posts. Has anyone been able to at least make their doorbell look better after the peeling issue? I'm really sad if I need to accept that the only fix is to buy a new $229 doorbell. The other physical products I have from Google are their Nest Protect smoke/CO alarms... I have 8 of them... I really hope the build quality and reliability on those are better than the doorbell.

Hey there,

Thank you for your patience. We do not process these requests in the Nest Community Forums. If you are seeking a replacement, please first fill out this form so Support can collect some important information from you. Once the form is submitted, you will have your case number.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Brad,

Hey there.

Thank you for reaching out. I am not specifically seeking a replacement on this forum. I wanted to see if community members had suggestions for dealing with the peeling issue and making the doorbell look better. I also shared some of my findings on the forum with others who may be searching for insight to the issue.

I thought it was clear I was looking for a fix in my post when I said: "Is there any way to fix this issue." and "Has anyone been able to at least make their doorbell look better after the peeling issue?"

I'm not looking for a replacement as the doorbell is out of warranty and I have no faith in Google to replace my product out of warranty. I'm simply attempting to garner some advice from fellow doorbell owners who have the same problem and have dealt with it themselves, perhaps with success.

I thought that was the purpose of having a community of product owners. Is it not?

Thank you for your suggestion.

Cheers,

Aaron

@Ajkeysor

I apologize I misunderstood your question! I have seen that some users have said there are some silicone sleeves that you can put on the doorbell to protect it a bit better. I believe it was this product found here. I hope that helps!

Brad.
