Google Nest Outdoors - Fitting

I was wanting to fit a Nest camera outdoors on the eaves of a verandah where I currently have a motion detector light. Can it be mounted in that upside down/horizontal position. If I run the cable through the eaves to the current power cable (with a power point connection added), would that be suitable?

If you have power, a strong WiFi connection and not too much weather, should work out great!
