Google Nest doorbell (battery) No longer working

I have a doorbell that has been connected for a few years. This afternoon it disconnected from the wifi and I cannot get it to reconnect. I have tried a reboot, did the pin in the back for 10 secs, and the light does indeed go white but it doesn't seem to do anything and it still doesn't work.

I tried the factory reset and I do not get the yellow light at all, it stays white. I removed it from the google home app and now it will not reconnect.

It has power and seems to come on when it detects movement but its not connected to anything! I have a lot of other mini's and 2 homehubs that are connected ok. All other devices on the wifi are working as expected.

Not sure what else I can do?

Help google experts, you are our only hope!

There is an issue on googles end. No cameras are finishing setup and getting a "setup is taking longer than expected". If you quit the setup, it will show on home app but not have live feed. Activity zones will pick up and notify with recording. Google rep claims the engineers are aware but there is no fix yet. I was told to try and re-add new camera and old wired in 3-5 days. It's been six so I just have them added by quitting. It will at least give you motion notifications. Just no live view. Wish google would notify at least their customer service reps. Each day the same rep would say, I have not heard of any issues. Let's try factory resetting.

Hello there,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I'm so sorry to hear that your camera is not connecting to your Google Home app. Don't worry. I'm here to help!

I see that you mentioned, that every time you try to factory reset the camera, you never get the yellow LED light. To help me understand better what could be causing this situation. I just have a couple of questions for you:

  • What model of doorbell do you have (wired or battery)?
  • For how long do you hold down the reset button?
  • What tool are you using to press the reset button?
  • Do you hear the two distinct sounds during the reset process?

With this information, I'll be able to provide you with the best steps to take.

If you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further.

Best regards,

Nery.
