Google Nest doorbell won’t ring indoor chime unless I push doorbell button twice

Have 18 VAC at doorbell.  Press doorbell and chime sounds outside and Nest display announces the doorbell, but inside electronic chime doesn’t ring.  Press doorbell again and inside chime sounds.

Fixed problem by installing a small diode on the back of the NEST doorbell, between the terminals.  Only works one way - reverse leads if doorbell doesn't chime inside.  I have an older Zenith / Heath electronic chime.  Works perfectly now!
