Google Outdoor Cam - mounted on soffit?

I know the floodlight cannot be, but could a regular Outdoor Cam be mounted under a soffit? Will it stay connected to the magnetic base?

We have had two 1st gen Google Nest Outdoor Cameras mounted under soffits for years, and one Google Nest Battery Camera mounted on the side of our house for years, all with magnetic mounts, and they all remain mounted.
