Hi LilyM95,

Thanks for posting here in the Community and for sharing with us your issue. To confirm, the -8 degrees temperature, is it in celsius or fahrenheit? At temperatures below freezing, the lithium-ion battery in your Google Nest camera or doorbell won’t be able to charge.

The batteries in Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Doorbell (battery) have the following minimum temperature requirements:

  • Minimum operating temperature: -4°F (-20°C)
  • Minimum charging temperature: 32°F (0°C)

At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the battery can still power your device, but it won’t charge. It may also drain more quickly than usual. At temperatures close to -4°F (-20°C), your battery may have less than half the life that it has in warm weather.

Note: The battery can still be charged at 104°F (40°C), the hottest operating temperature for Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Doorbell (battery).

Looking forward to your response.

It is -8C. I have had it in my house for 2 weeks now and it still won’t turn on so I removed and reset it now it won’t allow me to re add the device to my account/home

Hello LilyM95,

Thanks for getting back to us. May we know what's the light status of your Nest Doorbell? Are you getting any error messages during set up?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Locate the reset pinhole on the back of your Nest Doorbell.
    • Tip: The reset pin on your Nest Doorbell (battery) is located below the USB port on the back of the doorbell.
  2. Insert and hold the pin (you can use an unfolded paper clip or a thumbtack):
    • At 10 seconds, the status light will flash yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
    • At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while your Nest Doorbell starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.
  3. Release the button. Your Nest Doorbell will restore to its factory settings.
  4. After the factory reset, your Nest Doorbell will appear as “Offline” in your app until you remove it.
  5. To remove it from the app, open the app, then tap Settings> Remove device>  Confirm.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks for following up, Archie.

Regards,

Emerson
