Google doorbell (battery) not turning on

Installed doorbell and it was working fine. I changed my wifi provider and had to reset all my google devices cause they all weren’t connected now. 

I hit the remove doorbell button on the home app and ever since then I am unable to reconnect the doorbell to the home app using the new wifi network. All other home devices connected seamlessly. 

After trying to reset it a few times, the doorbell dosent power up when it’s plugged to charge but appears to be working when I mount it.

You may have the same issue I had, when I tried to test my new doorbell inside the house. It looks like it will only work if the doorbell is mounted. There was a very tiny notification in the app and if you have 20/10 vision you should have noticed that😁.

I was able to make the device think it is mounted by 'attaching' the metal mounting plate with a rubber band. So there must be some electrical or magnetic switch.

I am terribly sorry to hear that you have had such a hard time with this! I would love to look into this issue further and help find a solution for you. First off, I have some questions I’d like to ask you.

  • Do you still need help with this issue?

  • What troubleshooting steps have you done thus far? 

  • Have you tried to restart your device if you haven’t already?

  • If the restart didn’t work, have you tried to do a Factory Reset? This would be a last resort option, but would clear out issues and the device would essentially be ‘brand new’
