We have a rescue dog who is impeccably crate-trained, but has a sensitive stomach. If he's going to be sick (diarrhea or vomiting) he'll bark to let us know before anything goes wrong in his house. We know to hurry home or head to his room to let him out and to avoid him having to sit in his own mess until we get back to him. It's a perfect system and no one has to clean up a mess, or even worse sleep in vomit/diarrhea.
Our Dropcam HD / Nest camera is perfect for this. Bark detection lets us know that he is letting us know about a problem coming up. We let him out and any bad things can happen outside. Easy and a fantastic application of technology.
Last week we were told that support for these cameras is ending. I followed instructions and requested a replacement camera, somewhat excited to have nicer video quality to see the pup when we're not home.
I've just finished setup and found that bark detection is nowhere to be found. That's the only reason why I need this camera.
Please consider that you might be negatively impacting the life of rescue animals when you delete these features. Is it really that difficult for the program team to keep this feature in the product? It has a real effect on the lives of your users and their animals.

Hi jjay,
Thanks for reaching out. Our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users — I'd suggest you submit feedback about it, here's how. Keep your eye on the Google Nest Community page for any updates.
Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this in 24 hours if I won't hear back from you again. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.
Regards,
Juni

Hi Juni. Yes, of course, I have submitted feedback that way. I have done that many times for many now-missing features. I never seem to get a reply and the features don't ever seem to return to the active feature list. It's very frustrating to have been a paying user of the service only to have it shut down.
So, most importantly, how can we get this message to the product team that we need this feature put back into the feature list.

how can we get this shared with the product team?

Hi jjay,
Thanks for the response. Right now the only option is to send the feedback by using the link provided in this thread. Do you have any more questions that we can address?
Best,
Juni

Thank you Juni. Are you working on creating other options? It seems as if support frequently has to tell customers "the only option is to send the feedback by using the link provided in this thread" as if you all understand that this is not adequate. Are you working to do something better?
Thank you
