Google mini speaker

I can't hear my battery operated nest door bell ring without having it connected to my Bluetooth. Then whenever I play music, it will come through the speaker and I don't want that to happen everytime, but out it being connected to Bluetooth, I don't hear it ring.

Hi @VF_65,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Doorbell Battery isn't ringing on your Nest Mini, even with the Bluetooth setting enabled, and that it's also playing your music through the speaker, which you don't want. And if it's not connected to Bluetooth, you don't hear it ring at all. Let's work on this together!

To start, I'll need a few pieces of information from you:

  • What is the make and model of your Google Mini Speaker? Is it a 1st or 2nd generation device?
  • Are both your Google Mini Speaker and your Nest Doorbell (Battery) set up in the same "home" within the Google Home app?
  • Are you primarily using your Google Mini Speaker to reproduce visitor announcements from your doorbell, or are you trying to use it as a wireless chime?
  • Do you have an active Nest Aware subscription?

While I await that information, I want to clarify how these devices typically interact. Your Nest Doorbell (Battery) and Google Mini Speaker generally communicate directly over your Wi-Fi network for features like visitor announcements. Bluetooth is primarily used for the initial pairing process in the Google Home app, or for the speaker to function as a regular Bluetooth Speaker (e.g., playing music directly from your phone). It's unusual for the doorbell chime functionality to require an active Bluetooth connection for announcements. This suggests there might be a specific setting or connection issue we need to investigate.

Once you're ready with that information, I'll be more than happy to provide further assistance.

Keep me posted!

Best regards,

Debora
