Unfortunately, Google Nest's 2nd gen cameras and doorbells work only in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app, as we discovered 3 years ago when we bought a battery camera. So we've been using both apps ever since.

It is possible to "transfer" your 1st gen cameras and doorbells from the Google Nest app to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app (in "Preview" status since Nov. 2022): https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Blog/Expanded-support-rolling-out-all-Nest-Cams-can-transfer-....  We have not done so because the Google Home app still lacks so many Nest app functions: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13038234#zippy=%2Cnest-app-only-features.

Very confusing

I want all my cameras on one app as I pay the subscription for my house

and the nest app is so easy for me to control all the cameras

and user friendly

how would I get round this

thanks

There is no way to get around it. Google Nest is not adding any enhancements to the Google Nest app.

You can, as we are, continue using the Google Nest app for 1st gen cameras and doorbells and the Google Home app for 2nd gen cameras and doorbells, and hope that Google Nest eventually brings Nest app functionality into the Google Home app. We have been waiting since Sept. 2021.  (You can also use the "Public Preview" version of the home.google.com website to livestream all 1st and 2nd gen cameras and doorbells.)

Or you can, as some are, request an invitation to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app (available since Nov. 2022), and then, when invited, individually "transfer" your 1st gen cameras and doorbells from the Google Nest app to the "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app and live with the reduced functionality.

Either way, if you have a 2nd gen Nest Aware or Nest Aware Plus subscription (which we've had since 2020), that subscription applies to all 1st gen AND 2nd gen Google Nest cameras and doorbells in the same Google Nest "home/structure".
