Can you use the 2nd gen door bell without a chime ? Do you just hard wire it directly and use Google hub and speakers to announce that someone has pushed the button?
Thanks

I believe you can hardwire the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell to your doorbell wires connected to your doorbell transformer and turn off the "Indoor chime" option and turn on the "Visitor announcements" option to get visitor announcements on your Nest Minis, Nest Hubs, and Nest speakers.
(We're doing that with our older Nest Hello doorbells because the internal battery on all three has failed, causing them to go offline if they attempt to ring the indoor chime.)

Did you have any luck? I have no existing doorbell and just want to run wiring for the Doorbell wired (2nd generation) and then use the phone and Google audio speaker for the notification. Need to know if it works with no chime. I see the instructions start asking about wiring for previous chimes

Hi there,
Sorry to hear you're experiencing this, as I can imagine it has been an inconvenience. I would love to look into this further for you. You can learn how to install the doorbell here. You should be using the equipment that comes with the doorbell, which would include the Chime Puck. The link I sent has additional troubleshooting you can look through. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Best regards,
Brad

I am unaware of such a diagram, so the user can look over the available information that is in the help center.

Since you are a Google Nest Community Specialist and since several customers have asked for this, can't you ask Google Nest staff to provide instructions and diagrams for installing the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell without a chime?

If there is a diagram to share, we will share it here. At this time, there isn't such a diagram that is available to us in the forums. You are welcome to reach out to support to see if this is something they are able to provide.

Thanks JT,
Got the doorbell installed but now I can't get any of the videos to work. From the doorbell, or either of the 2 wired cameras with floodlights I installed.

Hello Nyoung,
Thanks for your patience. We appreciate your efforts here. Let’s sort this out — a few questions: what’s the status light of your doorbell? How far is the doorbell from the router? Is it fully charged or plugged into the wall outlet? Also, were there any changes to your WiFi network?
Going over the steps here might help:
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
JT
