Hardwired Nest Doorbell showing low battery

Hey guys,

I have a Nest Doorbell (Battery) 2021 and it's hardwired to a transformer (16v 30va). The device at first would show the infinity icon and would show the text "plugged in". (I would fully charge it via USB-C)

After a few days it went from infinity to 60% but would continue to show that it's "plugged in" and will eventually drain and I would have to remove the doorbell and recharge it.

I obviously don't want to remove the device every few days since I'm hardwiring it.

Any idea what the issue is?

A few things to note:

1 . Indoor chime works

2. I live in a big city and get at least 100+ event notifications per day

3. My 16v 30va transformer is supplying power the indoor chime, and the Doorbell (I tested the voltage of the transformer with a multimeter and it outputs 19/20v)

4. I've set the device settings to use as little battery as possible (eg:  record 10s, etc...)

My only suspicion is that the events and notifications is too much to handle versus the trickle charge of the 16v transformer and I'll need to upgrade to a true 24v 30va transformer.

It would be nice to get other opinions on this before I spend an extra $20

Any suggestions/confirmations/feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I decided to swap out the 16v 30va transformer with a 24v 40va transformer instead. If this works, then anyone else having this issue will know how to solve their issue.

note: I rechecked the output of the transformer and it showed close to 30v, a solid 10v more power

Stay tuned, will report back in a few days for a status update
