Hex Screw Alignment

temcderm
Community Member

I can't get the hex screw started, and it looks like the hole in the baseplate is off-center in the doorbell's hole.  The smaller baseplate hole is offset toward the front of the doorbell.  I have a picture but don't see how to post it here.

The doorbell seems to have locked in place. It won't pull off or rock back and forth, so it seems to have engaged properly with the baseplate.  I tried pushing down on the doorbell a little harder, and then I tried pulling out on the top of the doorbell to better align the holes.  But the doorbell didn't move in either case.  What should I try next?

Thanks,

PS - Everything else about it works fine.

Resolved by 1) repacking the wires, 2) remounting the doorbell on baseplate, 3) pulling out gently on the doorbell while 4) angling the hex screw slightly forward. Not sure which of these made the difference, but it screwed in successfully.
