History recording

I have two old Nest cameras and was using Nest and could view it 24/7 with Nest.
I added a new camera and bought the Google home 60 day subscription. I cannot see the 24/7 recording on google home for my two older Nest cameras. The new one shows up on Google home and is 24/7 like it should be. Do I have to watch my old cameras through the old Nest to get 24/7? Does my subscription to Google home allow me to keep the old Nest app so I can view 24/7 with my old cameras?

Unfortunately, the Google Nest doorbells and cameras released starting in the fall of 2021 work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app or the home.nest.com website. A Nest Aware Plus subcription covers all of your doorbells and cameras in the same "home" in the Google Home app. (Our one new Google Nest Battery Camera--plugged in all the time with the optional power cable--has 24/7 history in the Google Home app, and our other Google Nest cameras and doorbells have 24/7 history in the Google Nest app.

You can find Google's rationale for this in the "blogs" in this forum, along with plenty of customer reaction.

I have all new Google Nest battery cameras now, all plugged in, and have the Nest Aware Plus subscription. We cannot see 24/7 recordings, only event based. Is there a trick to seeing it?

With our one Google Nest Battery camera, with the optional power cable feeding towards the FRONT of the camera, when we select the camera in the Google Home app, we get a screen that says "Live". If we click "History" at the bottom of the screen, we get a timeline. We can scroll through that timeline to see 24/7 recordings. Unfortunately, the user interface is not as good as in the Google Nest app and there is only one color flagging events. Above the timeline is a "Full history" option that displays Events.

Hey folks,

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Brad.

I have 2 older cameras and 2 new.  I cannot even see the older cameras at all in Google home app.  Is there a setup I’m missing that I can see a real time display in the Google App of the older cameras? I understand I have to manage the older ones in Nest, but I thought you could see them in Google?

I’m pretty new to the Google Home app and their new cameras but don’t think you can view your old cameras on the Google Home app.

@dasubermind

The older cams are exclusive to the Nest App if you never migrated your account over to Google Home.

I have migrated my account over - that's why I don't understand why they're not showing up on Google Home?

We can view our older Google Nest cameras and doorbells in the Google Home app, along with our one new Google Nest Camera (Battery).  But for the older cameras, we can only view the cameras' live feeds.  To access history or administer the cameras, we have to use the Google Nest app.

I don't know why you can't see your older Nest cameras in the Google Home app.  Are you signing onto the Google Nest app using Google and the same gmail account used for the Google Home app?  Are all of your cameras in the same "structure" or "home"?

Thank you for your response.  I have migrated my Google Nest app to my gmail account and it is the same one as my Google Home is set up for.  The Home name is the same in Google Nest as it is in Google Home.  I am not sure why they will not display the live video on my Google Home App.

@Kmm22

In the Google Nest app for each of your older cameras, if you go to Settings, the "Video recording" option (just above the "Nest Aware" option) should be turned "On". If you don't have a "Video recording" option, I think your Nest Aware Plus subscription is somehow not including your older camera. In Settings for each older camera, if you select "Nest Aware", it should say "Active: Nest Aware Plus".

In the Google Home app, if you select Settings and select "Rooms and groups", you should be able to find your older cameras in one of the rooms, and when you select the camera, "Video recording"  should be "On".

Thank you.  Before I saw your note, I reinstalled the cameras and they are now showing up.  There must have been some sort of mismatch with the homes.
