How Do You Set Notifications to Override Default Phone Settings - Always Make Sound

JimmyK

Hi,

I recently switched from another brand doorbell to the Google Nest wired doorbell.  The previous brand always made my phone alert me with sound that someone was pressing my doorbell, regardless of my phone's current sound settings.  The Google Nest doorbell appears to have two settings in the Google Home app settings - "Default" and "Silent".  With it on "Default", it "may ring or vibrate based on phone settings".  I usually keep my phone on vibrate, so it only vibrates if someone is at my door.

How do you make it so when someone presses the doorbell, it ALWAYS plays the ringtone set in the "Sound" section of the Google Home app's settings?  Hey Google, please make an override so a phone rings and makes noise, like a doorbell is supposed to.

Hi JimmyK,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We appreciate your interest however, we don't have any news to share about applying this feature to the Nest app or Google Home app. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback. I'd suggest you send feedback using this link to let the Google Engineering team know about your concern. While they won't respond directly back to you, this is the best way to let them know about this. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this after 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.

Best,

Emerson
