How do I add new 2021 Nest Camera to Alexa? Note: These are added via Home. (Not Nest app added).

Sorry if I am double posting. I created a post on Google Support and it shows "we have moved" so I am recreating here.

I am having problems adding the 2021 model cameras to Alexa control.

1. Bought 2 new model 2021 Nest cameras.
2. Downloaded Google Home app on Android.
3. Scanned QR for cameras and added them to Google Home fine on my Google account.
4. Opened Alexa app and tried to enable skill "Google Nest".
5. It shows no devices found even though I am logged in to my Google account.

I have tried download Nest app on Android but this app will not add the cameras after scanning the QR (it suggests to use Google Home app).

I have also phoned up Alexa support - they suggested to follow the guides and also stepped me through trying to use Nest app instead of Home app.

Hey there Richirich,

Sorry for the late response, but I wanted to hop in here to help. I understand the integration between Google and Alexa can be confusing, but I'm happy to help.

First off, you can try these steps:

  1. Launch the Alexa app on your smartphone.
  2. Tap the Menu (hamburger icon) at the top-left of the screen.
  3. Choose 'Skills' from the side menu.
  4. Start typing 'Nest Camera' until the skill appears in suggestions.
  5. Choose the Nest camera.
  6. Tap 'Enable to use' (or just 'Enable' in some versions).

If that does not work for you, we have this great article that will help you to be able to control Nest products with Alexa.

Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Best regards,

Hi

Thanks for trying to help. I have tried all of that and the article in the link you have provided.  Maybe it's a UK thing?

Hey there,

Oh, apologies, I did not know that you were in the UK. That is something that could cause the problem as the functionality is different. I'm happy to take this feedback and pass it forward for you though.

I appreciate you letting me know this information and allowing me to pass this forward as we are always wanting to improve and get better.

Best regards,

Garrett DS
