I see the nest can detect vehicles, but all my cameras pick them up as people and I'm notified constantly about people. But garbage trucks, school buses, mail trucks, Lamborghinis, and the like are not people.
Any way this can be fixed? Has been happening for years and it's getting annoying

Also racoons, skunks, cats, squirrels, and birds are detected as people.
The subscription says it has animal detection as well. But it doesn't.

If you have options for People, Vehicles, and Animals, you must have the Google Nest Camera (Battery), which came out 17 months ago, when we first got ours. Is your camera plugged in or running on battery power. I'm asking because we have ours plugged in with the optional power cable, and our People notifications are almost always valid (though on occasion, like in a storm, we may get a false notification), and we never get a vehicle triggering a People notification. We don't have Vehicle notifications turned on. Google Nest's Animal notifications are supposedly only for cats and dogs.
Have you tried setting up Activity Zones so you can focus on the area(s) where you want to receive notifications? We have a separate zone for the street, with notifications turned off for that zone.
You could try doing a "Restart" or "Factory Reset" on your camera, as described in the link below:

This isn't specified on the nest aware subscription

Yeah. I'm not updating the cameras to battery style. I don't want the hassle of having to charge or the hassle of losing the nest app

Nope, I'm good. One of my cameras died and a replacement 1st gen on ebay costs as much as a new Nest Cam. I tried out the nest Nest Cams and I despised having to use the Home App and no ability to monitor from a web browsers.
I'm going to sell my old nest cameras on ebay for profit and move to another vendor.
