Indoor/outside cameras

Community Member

I have indoor and outdoor cameras at home.

I have the Home app and Nest app.

The Home app shows all cameras, but the indoor cameras settings can only be changed in the Nest app and the Nest app only shows the indoor cameras.

I have all notifications on, on both apps, all day and all hours.

So on the Nest app I don't use the (Away) from home option so there shouldn't be any break in hours for the notifications.

I've been noticing that my Home app will continue to record the notification alerts, but for some reason my Nest app stops the notifications before midnight will not record again until the next day in the morning. At first it was doing that with both apps, but now it's just the Nest app, indoor cameras.

Also when I open the Nest app, it would be set to (Away) from home and not show any events, but not always does it show (Away) from home when I open it, but I would be missing hours to almost midnight until 5am or 6am..

I purposely don't use the (Away) from home, so I'm wondering why the Home app shows notification events during the missing hours and the Nest app is not picking up those hours.... Remember I explicitly don't use the (Away) from home.

When I go to the Nest app it also glitches when I press notification settings and shows something else at first then quickly shows me the settings I have kept it at.

Is it hacked? Why am I not able to see what's going on in my house bet

ween those hours?

The newer Google Nest cameras and doorbells that were released starting in Sept. 2021 work only in the Google Home app and not in the Google Nest app. We've had to use 2 apps ever since we got a battery camera in Sept. 2021.

We don't use the Home/Away feature, so I don't have any suggestions on that issue.

I also don't know why your Google Nest app is glitchy when you press notification settings.

The indoor cameras are only on Google Nest app and that's the only place I can change settings for the indoor cameras.

We just purchased it this year I'm using 3  Google Nest pro indoor cameras.

Hi Jdkick,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about your concern, I'd like to confirm, do you have other people linked to your Nest Devices? Are they using your same email address for logging in? Do you have other mobile devices with your same email address signed in? Each person can only use one phone to share one phone location at a time. If you’ve already enabled phone location on one phone, enabling it on a different phone will disable it on the first phone.

If you're already sharing your phone location using the Nest app, enabling it in the Home app will disable it in the Nest app. You can only use one app to share phone locations at a time.

You can also turn off phone location in your phone’s main settings menu, but this will not only affect the accuracy of Home/Away Assist, it may change how other apps on your phone work, too. Hit this link for more information and let us know how it goes.
