So I've got 10 Nest Cameras of various generations, outdoor and indoor, not to mention smoke detectors and thermostats. They're all linked to my Nest app and recently when I purchased 2 new Nest cams, I was unsuccessful trying to install into Nest app. Seems like the i'm being FORCED to put the cameras into the google home app, which i don't really like. I ended up returning the nest cameras to the store.
Aside from buying USED cams, does anyone know how to purchase new cameras that are compatible with Nest? I am certainly hoping that the Nest app is not being sunsetted without a suitable replacement.

Am having a similar issue with attempting to reconnect a camera into nest app.
Tried all advice online and forums. Am wondering if this is a wipe out of Nest app? Originally you connected the camera through existing products but now attempts to connect through phone Bluetooth???

Almost every day, another Google Nest customer is surprised to discover that the new Google Nest cameras and doorbells released starting in the fall of 2021 work ONLY with the Google Home app and NOT with the Google Nest app or the home.nest.com website. We discovered this when we bought a new Google Nest Battery Camera in September 2021.
On the Google Store for the Google Nest Battery Camera, there currently is this line that says: "Google Home app required. Learn more." If you click on the "Learn more" link and scroll down to "Tech Specs", and then expand the "App" listing, you will then (and only then) find that it says "not compatible with the Nest app or the home.nest.com site."
We purchased our Google Nest Battery Camera the first week of September 2021 because the week before, Google quit selling the Google Nest Outdoor Camera. I don't know what the Google Store listing said at that time; it wouldn't have occurred to me to look to see whether a new "Nest" camera was incompatible with the "Nest" app. A "Nest" camera that doesn't work with the "Nest" app and a new "Nest" camera that has less functionality than our older "Nest" cameras. Who would have thought? So now we have to use two apps.
Google Nest has posted its rationale in these blogs in this forum; you'll find hundreds of customer reactions as well:

Thank you. The new Google Home app, at least in its current version, is terrible.
In the meantime, I'll be looking for used nest cams that works with the old nest app.
1 star rating for the google home app. I love progression and overwhelmingly prefer google over amazon and other ecosystems, but please make a suitable replacement before sunsetting great features.

Hi PeterX for what it's worth I have purchased (2) previous-gen Nest Outdoor cams from eBay and both are working great.
