Hey Google Nest Community!

We recently shared news about updates for Nest camera and doorbell users for Public Preview in the Google Home app. You can read more in the recent community blog, Public Preview updates: expanded support for Nest Doorbell (1st gen) and garage door detection.

If you’ve had the chance to read the news, or were able to check-out the features yourself - we’d love to hear from you!

Comment below what you’re loving, what you’re not, and especially if you’re encountering any issues with the new features.

This is great news, that would leave just the IQ Indoor and all of my cameras would be supported. Only issue; I still haven’t been prompted to migrate my Nest Cam Outdoor cameras yet, only have Battery Cams in Home, been in preview from almost the beginning.

Transfered Nest Doorbell wired Gen 1 to the Google home App. After that had issues with Push notifications not working (Not even the settings for notifications would show in the Home App under Theo Doorbell Kamera tab). Removed the device from the Home App. Now i cant add it again. Home App hast no option for Gen 1 and prompts to the Nest App, in the Nest App device is listed as transfered to Home App. Even after factory Reset of the doorbell Nest App wants me to add Theo device in the Home App, Home App sends me to Nest app

I have the same problem as you. Wanted to change wifi settings for Nest Hello doorbell 1st gen after moving it to the Google Home app like was asked a few days ago. It said changing wifi settings is not possible in the Google Home app, you first need to change the doorbell back to the Nest app. Did that. Had to reset the doorbell for changing wifi settings in Nest app. Now Nest app says the doorbell is converted to Google Home so it has to be added by Google Home app. Google Home app says some doorbells need to be added in Nest app, and points to the Nest app to continue installation. Great work Google, so now I have a brick next to my door instead of a working doorbell because I can't add it anymore. Many thanks! How to proceed?

Great to see Nest Hello moving under the Google Home app. I have migrated and things are much more unified. As always there is an 'however'.  Is there a way to change the default FOV when I open the app? I don't want to have the camera covering my neighbours door all of the time for privacy reasons.

No mention of the other nest app features.  Event history is just one feature being migrated.    What about Timelapse feature, custom length time clips (not just events you identify) and others Nest App Only Features
.  What about an update on Nest Cam IQ.  This has been over 10 years since you bought Nest and still these cameras are not migrated.  Why is this taking so long?   How about a blog post explaining why it is taking so long to migrate your cameras to your preferred app?

When can we expect legacy scrubbing features in the home app? I have purposely left several cameras in the Nest app because there is no quick 15 second reverse and advance option. I use this all the time.

Happy 1st gen devices (nest doorbell wired) are now usable in the home app, it's working but I did notice the night vision still on auto was randomly enabling and disabling on live and saved video which is new? Im wondering if it's being affected by bright lights now, maybe it needs a sensitivity slider if available as it wasn't an issue in the nest app..

But I'm still glad it's transfered, I just hope further improvements don't take forever going forward.

Thanks

I am trying to work out why I haven't been prompted to migrate any of my Nest Cam Outdoor camera's, and now my Hello. Is it only possible on Android devices? anyone done it with IOS? or maybe because I am in New Zealand.

I thought it might have been because my account is also a developer account, but a friend hasn't been prompted for any of their cameras, and they aren't a developer. But they are in NZ and IOS.

Hi, I updated my doorbell yesterday, it worked fine for ~24 hours, now it’s offline. I’ve tried the reset on the back of the doorbell, verified power and reset the breaker. No luck. Any help would be appreciated. It is too close to the update for it not to be related. I haven’t had any problems in the last 8 years.

Small issue i have found since migrating my Nest Hello over, the snapshot preview of a motion seems to be the first image in the snapshot, not the subject of the notification. I.e. if i get a person notification, i see a empty frame of my front doorbell picture, not a preview of the person at the door. It would be nice to get the long press video previews as part of the push notification also.
