Local Storage (sd)

Just wondering if there will ever be an option to have video stores locally through an onboard sd/micro sd card.  I understand the need for the paid cloud subscription in some circumstances but 10$ a month is an awful lot for something I may only want to access occasionally.  Would love to have an upgrade to the local recording/storage option!
