Mounting the wired doorbell

I have very little space between the wall and the door.  Door is surrounded with wall.

The wood is about 1 1/8 inches wide to mount the doorbell. It would be a new wired installation.

I also have a screen door. Currently, the screen door would cover the doorbell if it would close once the nest doorbell is installed.

I was thinking about mounting it above the door. Is that possible? Would it work?
