The Google Nest Camera (Battery) has to be plugged in with the optional power cable in order to record 24/7 (with a Nest Aware Plus subscription). That's what we've had for a year and it works fine.
There are many reports in this forum where the battery camera--when running on battery power--is late in waking up to record an event or never records it at all, because it is normally in "Idle" mode. We've tested turning off the power to our battery camera and walking in front of it, and it does not detect that as an event. When it is plugged in, it recognizes and flags events as well as our older Google Nest wired cameras, and we get 24/7 video history for the last 10 days.
If your battery camera is running on battery power and you do not have a Nest Aware subscription, you will only get events the camera woke up for and detected during the most recent 3 hours.

Hey Bareti2000,
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. We offer 2 types of recording for Aware subscriptions: continuous 24/7 video recording, and event video recording, where the camera or doorbell only saves video when activity is detected. This table shows you what is available for each product. For more details, select your product below to compare features with and without a Nest Aware subscription. Check out this link for additional information.
I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.
Thanks,
Archie
