I have the new nest cam battery but I have it plugged into the mains. I have the 1st Gen Home Hub and am unable to tell google to show me the camera on the home hub. I have read previous posts that seem to indicate that Google have decided not to implement this functionality between their products anymore. Not sure how true that is. I note on the Google Store that they are advertising an Outdoor Monitoring Package. (https://store.google.com/gb/product/outdoor_security_package?hl=en-GB) to include the nest cam (battery) and a home hub 2nd Gen. Their headline on the page says "Hey Google, show me the outdoor camera". This leads me to believe then that you can stream to a home hub, but only the 2nd Gen. Can anyone confirm this please?

We have a new Google Nest Battery Camera and are able to stream it on a 1st Gen Google Nest Hub (by saying Hey Google, show the "device name" or by dragging down from the top of the Hub and selecting the camera). But we have the camera connected at all times with the optional power cable and we have a Nest Aware subscription. I don't know how this new camera works with streaming on a Nest Hub if it is running only on battery power.; I'm just another Google Nest customer. (Our other cameras are the older Google Nest cameras and stream fine on a Nest Hub.)

Thanks for the reply. Mine also is connected to the power, but not with the nest subscription just yet. I can't see the subscription making the difference, can you? I can pull down from the top of the 1st gen home hub and see the camera, bit just can't ask it to display.

I'm not an expert, but I don't think the Nest Aware subscription should prevent streaming on a Nest Hub. However, are you sure your camera is connected correctly to power, with the power cable facing the FRONT of the camera? It's weird, but that's how they designed it, and some people seem to have theirs plugged in backward. In the Google Home app, if your camera is connected to power, in Settings for the camera, under Battery, it shows as "Plugged in" and has an infinity symbol inside a circle.

Yes, it's definitely plugged into the power. As you say I can see the infinity symbol in the home app in the camera settings.

I don't know why you can't see your plugged-in Google Nest Battery camera on a 1st Gen Google Nest Hub when we can. When you scroll down from the top of the Hub and click on your camera's icon, what happens? On ours, it livestreams what the battery camera is viewing, just as it does for our other non-battery cameras and doorbells. This Google Nest Help page on streaming doesn't mention anything about needing a Nest Aware subscription to stream on a Nest Hub: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9137164?hl=en#zippy=

Many thanks for everyone's reply. I reset the Hub and it now works. One more question if I may. I have a second Nest camera (mains powered and a couple of years old), the camera that still links to the original Nest App. It's also linked to the Home app alongside the Nest Cam battery. I note that the battery cam sends alerts to the Home app, but the older cam seems to only alert through the Nest app. Is this correct or should the home app alert both cameras?

Hey folks,
It looks like we have come to a solution so I'm going to be locking this thread. If you have any other concerns or questions, please feel free to create a new thread.
Have a great day.
