Nest Cam G3AL9 no Qr code setup issue

Hi there,

I run into an issue that has been reported previously (e.g., here).

I try setting up my cord-powered Nest Cam G3AL9. I don't have the original packaging and therefore no access to the QR code needed for installation (there is no QR code directly on the product). When trying to set it up in the Nest app (updated to the newest version), I can add the 6-digit setup code. However, the setup process freezes when entering the last 4 digits of the serial number. The page seems to freeze and never creates the correct last 4 digits (only random 4 digits that don't match). I tried this process multiple times and always get stuck here. Sometimes new 4 digit numbers get created (roughly every 3-10 minutes) but never the matching one! (I waited at one point for 1h!)

I also tried setting it up with google home app (updated to latest version) and it would crash since it can't detect any products nearby.

I also did a hard factory reset on the product itself (blue light is pulsating now).

Does anyone know a trick to get this product added to my account? This is really frustrating!

That model number (G3AL9) is for the Google Nest Battery Camera. We have one of those. (I just checked the model number.) It can only be installed in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app.

I don't know why the Google Home app would "crash" after not detecting your camera. Do you have your camera plugged in and is it close to your phone and to your router or Wi-Fi access point during the install?

If the status light is flashing blue, that would seem to indicate the factory reset was successful, but you could try resetting it again (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9252162).

I just contacted the support team. The Google home app was not able to detect the device automatically. I initially chose Nest Cam Outdoor and it would not detect it - I simply had to choose the battery powered option and it would connect. Hope that helps others that might run into same issue.
